Of Honest Abe, Teddy Roosevelt, and George Dubya

"Like Lincoln, George W. Bush is constantly faced with criticism from the press on his war leadership. Like Lincoln, he understands the moral imperative the United States has to use military strength to defeat an unquestionable evil, and he must persistently convince the public of his position. Bush knows that unity can come only after our enemies are made to submit to us. Like Lincoln, his reelection will succeed or fail on a few tactical operations in the war.

Similar to Roosevelt, Bush sees an opportunity for the United States to use its military might not to establish a global empire, but to export the ideas and culture that have made this nation the freest and most prosperous. Though labeled a renegade and a wild gunslinger, Bush has charted his course and will persevere, a la T.R."
~ Bush's Parallels With the Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt Administrations - Rich Stowell

There is a difference between the liberals of Lincoln's and Teddy's time, and the liberals of today. While Lincoln and Teddy may have been liberals, they were all about what was good for America, and America first. The liberals of today don't care about what is good for America, but what is good for bringing down America, in any way possible. Liberals of today see America as a threat to the world, and would rather defend America's enemies instead of defending our nation's policies.

They have also divided American policies (foreign or domestic) into two camps, peace and war, rather than what is simply right or wrong. What is right, such as stamping out terrorism by any means available, is viewed as warlike by the liberals and thus viewed as evil. While what is wrong, such as using dialog to defeat the terrorist threat rather than action, is viewed as peaceful by the liberals and therefore viewed as good.

I highly doubt that either Honest Abe or Teddy would have stood idly by and allowed the authors of 9/11 to get away with it. Nor do I doubt that they would have stood idly by and allowed a foreign dictator that hated the U.S. as much as Saddam Hussein did to build his army and his influence in the world unchecked, especially after watching what happened in Germany and Russia over the past 100 years when dictators attempted to achieve great power over their neighbors while the rest of the world did nothing to circumvent their ambitions.

If you want to make an American Empire omelette, you have to break a few legs.
