That's Entertainment!

"See it's only entertainment
A superficial episode
As life continues to unfold
Only entertainment
Controlled and copied
They've planted the seed
That sprouts into your picture of the world
Can't someone protect me (turn away, turn away)
From this electron beam?
Hey you, Mr. FCC
Have you no advice for me?" ~

FCC Proposes $755,000 Fine Against Clear Channel

"In response, Clear Channel called for an industry task force to develop indecency standards for radio, television, cable and satellite networks. President Mark Mays agreed there are limits to what programmers may air but said the government's enforcement is haphazard so broadcasters don't have a clear idea of where the line is drawn.

'Indecency is not just a radio problem, a television problem or even a cable problem,' Mays said. 'It is an industrywide challenge, and we all must take responsibility to make sure it is addressed on a fair and consistent basis.' "

While the devilry that is Clear Channel has been well-documented, I have to laugh at the hypocrisy that is the FCC and our government. They impose fines on the "indecency" of obscene radio broadcasting, and yet the government continues to condone the indecencies of censoring news that incriminates it by influencing the U.S. mass media into broadcasting news that is either redundant or irrelevant.

Translation: We are force-fed the same old crap regarding the War In Iraq and Kobe Bryant, Laci Peterson, Martha Stewart, or Michael Jackson respectively, but are conveniently denied access to truly informative news, such as the atrocities of the War On Drugs, the bitter truths regarding the War On Terror in the eyes of the world outside the United States, and what globalization and free trade are doing to utterly destroy the U.S. economy.....among other things, of course.

You may have noticed the links on the right margin of this blogpage. The majority of those links are there for your entertainment, as well as mine. They are not meant to be 100% informative or educational. True, every now and then, an issue of some vital importance will leak through the national airwaves of the U.S. and bleed out among the masses, but that is only because of the presence of independent media both here in this country and abroad; independent media outlets that corporate media outlets are trying to stamp out and/or gain control of.

And we are allowing it to happen. Why? Well...we've all heard the phrase that "you can't fight City Hall". What that phrase means is that the individual cannot fight the Establishment on his/her own. The only means to a positive end in regards to the freedom of information as it relates to the everyday consumer is a mass uprising of sorts, such as through the voting booths, for instance. Violence is ineffective; the government has the little man beat in the Brute Strength Department. Buying our way to freedom by boycotting the news media doesn't work either; they are everywhere, broadcasting their disinformation through our television sets, our radios, our newspapers, even the Internet.

So how do we resist the psychological influence of this passive yet stern threat to our individual thought patterns?

Well, as human beings, we are all gifted with common sense. And how we use that common sense ultimately defines our character. Our nature and ability to reason helps to influence our usage of that common sense. That is the one thing that Big Government and his little brother Mass Media cannot take away from us.

So first off, don't completely trust what you see and hear from the news upon first sight. In fact, don't completely trust me, because for all you know I may have Big Government in my pocket, intentionally feeding you information to gain your trust before exploiting you and your trust at my leisure. There's no such thing as a fail-safe source of information, my friends and enemies, sorry to say.

Just use your own common sense and take everything that you perceive in the news and the newspapers with a grain of salt. Take a look at how news outlets such as CNN and Fox News grab your attention with all of their eye and ear candy, and how easily they manipulate your interest by telling you what you want to hear and/or what you hate to hear, just to get a rise out of you and grab your attention. Hollywood does this with their blockbuster movies. The sheep of the masses flock to movies like Titanic and Waterworld, no matter how much of a monumental success or flop that those movies may be; we go to be entertained.

And the same applies to our news media. I enjoy reading the news, personally, not to be informed per se, but because it passes the time. I am not immune to what the news media spoon-feeds to me. I am as much of a media crackwhore as the next guy and gal. And the collective news media of today is not entirely to blame for such sinister exploitation of the masses. The U.S. Propaganda Machine has been alive and well since the beginnings of our nation. Adolf Hitler once said, "If you tell a big enough lie, and you tell it often enough, it will be believed." And that philosophy goes back thousands and thousands of years. Just take a look at the farcical collective myth that is the Bible, for example. You don't really believe all of that bullshit, now do you?

You do???

Oops, my bad. I pity you.

Watching the news media influence the masses, is like handing a Rubik's Cube to a retard: just watch the stupid fucker drool as the Cube grabs his complete attention as he tries to figure it out. Or eat it. Or whatever the hell 'tards do with inanimate objects that are smarter than they are.
